Hippasus of Metapontum

See Issue 38 (6/1/2019) of Lowestoft Chronicle for one of my more fun reads, Hippasus of Metapontum.

Lowestoft is an online magazine with much fine writing tending toward humor.

Hippasus and Philolaus are historical personages, and the angst over irrational numbers is a matter of record. Events probably did not play out exactly as depicted in this story. The narrator, Orestes the Ancient Mariner, Demetrios, and Kastor the Shipmaster are my inventions.
