The Blue House Raid: Cover Design

The cover design for The Blue House Raid (release date 1 October 2020) is by Steve Gierhart of The Ardent Writer Press. There was some controversy over the cover montage being too sensational. Steve finally put his foot down and said, this is the design, end of story. I think the montage, while a bit exaggerated, catches the flavor of the time and place.

청와대 (pronounced Cheongwadae) is Korean for the official residence of the president of South Korea, informally called the Blue House. And 습격 (seubgyeok) means raid or attack.

The color reflects the title and the appearance of the presidential residence (blue roof tiles). Light blue is also the “official” color for the US infantry!
